DOWNLOAD BOX II S Wi-Fi is a modern download key for new-generation G2V2 smart tachographs and driver cards. It downloads data from the tachograph by cable, just like the classic key – then sends the files wirelessly over Wi-Fi to your FTP server, manually or automatically. No need to plug the key into a PC. It has 8 GB of internal memory and an integrated driver card reader, and it covers the tachograph requirement for vans of 2.5–3.5 t, which applies from 1 July 2026.

To download data from the vehicle, a company card must be inserted in the tachograph. You apply for it at the competent authority in your country.
Without an active company card, the tachograph will not allow you to download vehicle data. It acts as your electronic key to the vehicle.

How to do your first download
Company card in the tachograph
Insert your company card into the tachograph. This authorises access to the vehicle's data.
Key to the tachograph
Connect the DOWNLOAD BOX II S Wi-Fi key to the tachograph with the cable. To download a driver card too, insert it into the key's integrated card reader.
Send over Wi-Fi
Once the key is on your Wi-Fi network, it sends the files to your FTP server – after your confirmation or fully automatically. Then load them into the TAGRA program for checking, evaluation and archiving.
The data must also be evaluated

Need downloads without visiting the vehicle?
DOWNLOAD BOX REMOTE downloads tachograph and driver card data remotely, so nobody has to go to the vehicle with a key. The unit is installed permanently in the vehicle by a qualified installer.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Wi-Fi transfer work?
The tachograph download itself works exactly as with the classic version – through the connection cable. Only the transfer to your computer is wireless: the key sends the downloaded files to a configured FTP server over the Wi-Fi network it is connected to. You can choose manual confirmation or fully automatic transfer. No need to plug the key into a PC.
What is the difference between the Wi-Fi version and the classic DOWNLOAD BOX II S?
Downloading from the tachograph works the same way on both – through the connection cable. The difference is the transfer to the PC: the Wi-Fi version sends the data wirelessly to an FTP server (manually or automatically), while the classic DOWNLOAD BOX II S is connected to the PC by USB. Both have an integrated driver card reader and fully support G2V2.
Does it support the latest G2V2 smart tachographs?
Yes. DOWNLOAD BOX II S Wi-Fi supports second-generation, version 2 smart tachographs (Smart Tacho II / G2V2) and works with VDO and Stoneridge tachographs, including older digital models.
How often do I have to download data?
Legislation requires you to download driver card data at least every 28 days and tachograph data at least every 90 days. You must archive the data for at least 1 year. We recommend downloading a little more often, so you have a buffer if a driver is unavailable (illness, holiday).
What format is the downloaded data saved in?
Data is saved in .DDD format, or .C1B/.V1B depending on the tachograph make. To open and analyse it, you need analysis software, such as the TAGRA program, which is fully compatible with DOWNLOAD BOX II S Wi-Fi.
Can I also use it for vans from July 2026?
Yes. DOWNLOAD BOX II S Wi-Fi is ready for the tachograph requirement for vans (light commercial vehicles) of 2.5–3.5 t used in international transport for hire or reward and in cabotage, which applies from 1 July 2026.
